Plan for your pet in advance especially if you live in an evacuation area.
Use your plan or checklist!
Take your pet with you when you evacuate.
Know your evacuation route.
Ask friends or family outside the evacuation area if they can temporarily keep your pet.
Bring a copy of your pet records with you. Keep your pet’s vaccinations up-to-date. Proof of rabies vaccination is vital!
Bring a picture of your pet with you.
One carrier per pet and one pet per carrier. Mark each carrier with your pet’s identification.
Bring a two week supply of food and water for your pet. Include bedding and any needed accessories.
If you must use a kennel, be sure it’s not in an evacuation zone and reserve space well in advance. Kennels require proof of all vaccinations.
